End of Life Update: MiVoice Connect
Mitel’s announcement regarding the End-of-Life (EOL) of the ShoreTel/MiVoice Connect (premise PBX) is now widely known.
Mitel has recently expedited its End-of-Design Support timeline for ShoreTel and MiVoice Connect, now set for December 31, 2025. What does this mean for your business? This shift signifies reduced attention to operating system updates, security patches, and other essential system updates. Additionally, hardware repairs will become increasingly dependent on the availability of spare parts, making ongoing support progressively less reliable.
Key dates including the rapidly approaching “End of Add-on Sales” date of December 31, 2024 are shown in the timeline from Mitel below:
Mitel’s Timeline Explained
- “End of New Systems Sales” – July 6, 2024: Discontinuation of new system sales. This means you will no longer be able to purchase a new Mitel MiVoice Connect solution. Please reach out to us and we can help provide you with alternate options.
- “End of Add-on Sales” – December 31, 2024: This means that you will no longer be able to purchase new licenses or platform hardware in order to grow the system. Feature enhancements, OS updates, patching, and security updates will no longer be available. This is especially important to note as the expansion of current systems will end. So if you are opening a new office, and truly want your communications unified, this could seriously affect those efforts.
- “End of Design Support” – December 31, 2028: End of RMA support. Hardware Warranty ceases. After this date, you will no longer be able to RMA any platform hardware such as voice switches should a failure occur.
- “End of Technical Support” December 31, 2029: End of Technical Support. After this date, there will be zero support of any kind. This will completely end the support from Mitel for the MiVoice Connect platform.
